Olympus officialy announced their newest DSLR Pro body camera yesterday called the E-3. Theres a lot of mixed feelings on this camera if you read the forums at Dpreview.com. They claim it to be the worlds fastest autofocus. Priced about right for around $1700 for the body when it hits stores in a couple weeks but I wont be rushing out to get it. Too much money for me to spend, I'll stick with getting the E510 for now.

Also released where 4 new Olympus Zuiko lenses for the E series cameras. I think along with the E510 2 lense kit i'm getting i'll get the 70-300 lense too.

The whole reason ive never bought a DSLR other than Canon or Nikon is the lens choices...or lack there of for any other brand than the two just mentioned. Both Canon and Nikon have a incredibly huge array of lenses from cheap to ridiculously expensive to cover any need imaginable. Cant say thats true to Sony, Olympus, or other DSLR makers....although they usually have a few decent lenses, the versatility and availability just isnt there. The specs on the E3 look good....but i doubt its going to ever be a serious contender in the "pro" level users compared to the "big two"

Theres a large(er) list of more lenses at the bottom of this (http://myolympus.org/E510/#Lenses) page.

I think I'll be getting that 70-300 as well in the near future...if that $$$ doesn't somehow end up in the YJ :)
