Cover every inch of it you would like to stay attached.

Last week, while we were visiting a friends father in Oklahoma, my friend Terry found out the hard way that no matter how short the trip, always wear your riding gear (helmet, jacket, gloves, etc..). We were just taking a quick trip over to visit a friend of his father so him and his cousin just jumped on their bikes and followed. After leaving the friends house we had traveled less than 1/2 a mile when a 100+ pound Rottweiler ran out directly in front of him. He t-boned it at 35-40 mph. Luckliy for him he had his helmet on, unluckliy he wasn't wearing a jacket or gloves. Pics below show the results.

The large dent in the tank is from his knee.

We think the insurance company will total it. Besides, his wife cut his riding privileges off completely until their kids grow up.

That is actually not too bad for a pavement rash with no protection at all. He should consider himself lucky. Does not look like he need skin graphs.

Latest I heard on the bike is $2600 in parts, not including labor or paint. The good news is the owner is a custom painter and if the insurance decides to fix it, he gets to do the paint!

They are going to rebuild her, they have the technology! Insurance gave the go ahead and is footing the rebuild. I'll post some pics when its finished.
