Well...that didn't last long.
Was messing around with my site and playing with photoshop for a whole different project and...well...changed up the site.
Just A Big Kid is no more...
Check out: www.tiffanynicolephotography.com (http://www.tiffanynicolephotography.com)
Think its a much cleaner look, still some issue to resolve, but have some of the more hardcore programming SmugMug types looking at what I want to do to try to help me out.
Thoughts?
Also...any of you guys willing to take a few pics for me? I need a decent pic for the site and the lame self portrait thing just isn't going to work. Any takers?

I like it a whole lot better Tiffany, the calendar is kick arse :D The site overall is very clean and easy to navigate. Keep at it.

Tiffany - I like this one much better. The other was nice, but this version/format has a much more "professional" feel. . . gives me more of an impression that I'm dealing with a pro rather than someone who threw together a website and now wants my money :D

Yeah, the old one was too "kidlike".
Isomnia brings out the best in me...not sleeping for days has an upside I guess.

Words are failing me. Very clean, VERY sharp looking.

I like this approach much better as well. That booking calendar is a great touch. How were you able to achieve that? Can I borrow the idea as well? I'm also trying to add some slideshow buttons on my website to control the images but I didn't find any format I liked until I saw your idea.

I like it! Certainly interested at what it cost to host through smug mug and would be willing to do a portrait or two.

Its the new Flash slideshow via SmugMug. It works, apparently none of you guys got an error so I can assume that its fixed.
Booking calendar is my Google Calendar via an iframe. I am working on a few other little goodies, but I think this site works way better for me.

cool, I'll check that new flash slideshow out with the customization Gods on SmugMug. Allen is the best!

It was a pain in the ass to get set up...and it's still pretty buggy in my opinion.
It's the Shizam Flash Slideshow....good luck with it. In hind site I would have waited until he fixed the bigger bugs.
Even Allen is having issues with it.

well, if you had trouble putting it up and you do this for a living, then I KNOW I'll have a beast of a time making it work. I was going to put just regular slideshow buttons on it, but I liked the flash one better. I might wait this one out until all the bugs have been fixed.

SmugMug hosting can be as littel as $30/year to $150/year for a pro account.
Unlimited hosting space, unlimited bandwidth...Pro accounts can upload 24mb pics and standard and power can do 12mb (I think...too tired to go look right now).
I like it, makes it easy to sell prints to folks with no hassle on my part.
I have some discount codes if you decide to go with them...PM me

I am curious what volume of sales are being driven through there. I have some pictures that people might find suitable for framing and would want to buy. I don't want to go the "stock photography" route, so this intrigues me...

Not really sure man...I am not in the selling pictures mode yet.

Chester, I'm not sure how fruitful it is for selling pics just yet, but my clients have loved the access they have to their images, the ease of using the site and sharing images with their own clients and they can print directly from the site.

I will more be using it to allow parents to order additional prints of their kids/family pics outside the package I offer.
In those cases, I will make about $8-$10 per print depending on size.

Asking for critique and comments again.
I just can't be happy with the black theme until I try a few different options.

Maybe thats it...black background light font is so hard on the eyes.
I like this version personally, it lends itself to having different themed galleries such as for baseball and football

Tiffany - I like the new color scheme. A little softer, easier on the eyes. . . crisp without being harsh. The only thing I noticed is in the slide shows it seems like some of the colors in the photos are washed out by the light border. . . like the light colors on the edge of the photo blend into the light background on which they appear. Does that make any sense? Maybe it's just me.
Otherwise it looks great, easy to navigate, professional. You can tell you've spent time and thought on it.

Good thoughts on the slideshow...I will try it with a darker border and see how it shapes up.

I like the new look. Curious about something - in your publicly viewable galleries, is there a way to enable sales of the pics? So if I like the bear looking into the convention center, I could get a poster of it or something?

Yep, I just haven't set any of that up yet. That will probably be this weekend.

OK, added a black border around the pics/slideshow...looks better. May change the background color a bit to help with the washing out of lighter photos.
Added pricing for images, just basic pricing. The Buy Photos button should be at the top of each gallery somewhere.
I have a few more tinkery things I want to do, but right now I think I am happy enough with it to leave it alone for a minute and go take some dang pictures. Hoping to be able to get over to the Denver Skatepark this week to take some pics there.

Like the border - that definitely helps.
I noticed there's an option to "save" the photo. I didn't go through the step, but I assume it doesn't let you download the full res version even though you can view it at full resolution?

Well, I'll be damned...
I guess I have to go set that for EACH gallery...sheesh!!!

I think I got everything fixed. I am hoping that I am pretty much done futzing with the dang site and can start taking quality photos to put on it.
Set up a Flickr pro account for just bulk storage so will be moving photos to there and starting fresh with SmugMug as the true portfolio site.
