Had a super weekend with friends Mike and Cathy at Rangely. Friday we had the park to ourselves and had a blast Saturday as the Rangely Rockcrawlers hosted guided trail rides and a BBQ. Got to meet and wheel with a bunch of great people and enjoy some tasty BBQ.

The video is from both days and includes trails/obstacles Megasaurus, Kirching, and Chain Breaker. Cathy let my wife Margie drive Chain Breaker and Margie had a riot. Now she wants her TJ to be built just like Cathy's.

Megasaurus is a long climb over slick rock with gun and go as well as technical obstacles. Kirching requires careful tire placement and a touch of skinny pedal. Chain Breaker is all technical. One errant move on the main obstacle and the right rear tire drops and its winch time. There are several new trails there that we didn't get to do. Go reason to go again.

Awesome video.

I seriously need to get out there. Just need to sell one of my front 60's so I can get the other one put in the jeep. Not to mention that I probably need to get some better gearing too. My crawl ratio sucks! How much snow does Rangley usually get during the winter? Can it be run year round?

I remember seeing that rig on the cover of JP awhile back. I can't remember the specs.

Looks like a great time!

Glad you guys like the video. I could have kicked myself for not getting my lazy butt out of the buggy and film the red YJ's roll. It happened right in front of me. The line had been moving along pretty fast so I stayed in the buggy. If your going to roll like that, someone should at least catch it on video.

It was good meeting people from the board there. The Rangely Rockcrawlers did a great job and I hope they turn this into an annual event.

The locals say wheeling is good there from March to around T-Day. Since maximum traction is required, it would be next to impossible to do when wet or muddy.

What group were you in? Did you start out on the lower end of mega or???
We started the upper part of Mega first..

I'm not sure what trail we started on; I hadn't been on it before. Most of the rigs in our group shouldn't have been there, so they got bored and impatient because all they could do was watch. Then, when AJ's rig was having problems, the trail leader took off out of sight with the rest of the group leaving Chris, AJ and I behind. He left without asking us what was wrong, if we needed help, or even if we knew our way out. Fortunately we did. After getting AJ to the trailer Chris and I said f**k it, let's load up and go home.

You were with the older guy in the comp buggy then I take it??
We where wondering where you went we did not see you " Scuba" around the :bbq:...
Our trail leader Kevin was great!! A lot of the rigs in our group were doing the same lines we were. We fell behind after kerching due to me breaking a heim joint on a coil over so we weren't able to do chain breaker with the group. By the time we got there a land cruiser was blocking the trail due to breakage so we just went and played on the rocks by the BBQ. Had a great time!!!!

Yep, the guy in the yellow buggy was our trail "leader." A few of us are already planning another trip up there - with a much smaller group of built rigs. :)

Bauer, you've got ford axles under there so steve and clint should let ya play...at least you didn't have to get an entire bronco driveline before they let you tag along :flipoff2:

And that is why it runs so good. If all the jeep guys could stick a Ford oval on their rig somewhere, paint something ford blue, or run a quality ford part, they would have alot better luck out on the trail ;)

Mike came in work the other day and bought a Ford part for his Jeep.
I feel like such a ding dong, cause I did'nt put two and two together.
If I knew his wifes Jeep was on the cover of the March 2007 JP
I would have given him another 75% off his fuel pump.:D
Well some day I hope to do trails like that WOW is all I can say.
I guess I better start saving now for 40's and a pair of 60's:drool:
You guys really rock.
