View Full Version : Bill Moore in the snow

Here are the pics for the Bill Moore trip Josh and I did today. We met 12 or so Land Rovers up the trail and rode along with them most the way. I heard Empire got 6" so I guess we saw snow from 6"-12". Even on a few inches, whenever a few tires rolled over the snow it turned to a wet slush-ice that had us all sliding and falling all over. We couldn't get up the steep hill climb towards the end. The one that has a couple different ways to go up, one harder than another. Turning around 12-14 vehicals in the trees, on that trail, and in the snow turned out to be somewhat time consuming. With that many people we pretty much just spun each one around like a top.

I told a few of the guys that we would post these on colorado4x4 so not sure if someone knows any of them and can pass along. Jimfoo?

I heard also they have some good video/pics of one of the Dealer LR3's against a tree. :D

Cool pic's but that is why I do not like winter wheeling. Open fields of powder are cool but the tight trail stuff sucks. IMO.

I bet that Rang Rover, (60K++) was so tight he could have shit diamonds.LOL

Well it looks like the dealership is worried about any damage to the trail they might have caused, so my club is getting them together with MHJC to work out donating time or money to make things right since it looks like it is Patrol 14's trail. Always good to see people try to do the right thing although it doesn't look like much was done from the pics.

I'm open to donating time. I agree with limited to no damage, the snow immediately turned to a iceslush as soon as someone rolled over it so there was no tearing up of anything. If we would have dug in we wouldn't have been falling off trail. Good to see the concern.

I don't know. Dave from my club was acting as the go between, between me who was finding who's trail it was, and the dealership. I'll PM you his e-mail.

based on those photos that trail is closed for the season already?

Closed?? Nah - just let is cool down a bit more and get some more snow on it. the ice that's in the tracks now will make things interesting! Just get your chains on, pull back your brake lines and go after it!!

I think we dumped my cousins XJ off in that same spot a couple years ago. I doubt any damage was done. Come spring, or even a couple more weeks and no one could ever tell. But it's cool to see their concern. And it's cool to see them wheelin those rigs!! Braver than I!

pssshshshshshst - 6" of lift with the push of a button!!
