Anyone have any personal experience with a specific brand/boot? Trying to find a good hunting boot that will last me a while while still keeping me comfy and the toes warm and dry. Bass pro has 20% off redheads and they seem good to me, but I want them to last. So I am currently leaning towards redheads, but thats simply b/c of price.
Oh, and I don't want to spend $150 on a pair of boots which will get used once a year.
TIA

I bought a pair of Danners several years ago and they have been great. Very similar to these.

I have been using a pair of Irish setters for the last 6 years. They have held up great. They are used for elk/deer, pheasent, grouse, ducks, and geese. They are worth the $279 I paid, because they probably have 3-4 more years in them.

I've got two pair of Danners for work and two pairs of Danner for hunting. All different boots. Danner makes a pretty good boot.

I wear Danners almost every day. Great boots. I would highly recommend them.

I have a pair of Merrells that I've been wearing for five years now and I like them very much. Danners are also good.
The thing is, good boots aren't cheap. This is an area where the old saying about "penny wise and pound foolish" truly applies!

It's worth the extra money to buy good boots. If you don't and your feet either hurt or are wet/cold, you will be miserable and hate life.

I just spent my first elk season walking around the La Garita Wilderness area in a pair of Rocky boots. I did NOT break them in before hand and had no blisters. Very warm with 800 gram thinsulate and double socks (standard tube socks and thick hunting socks). There are several different styles, I remember paying around $100 on sale this past March at Sports Authority.

I will second the Rocky's. I am on my second pair right now. Bought the fist pair when I was 16 or 17 & then bought my Bear Claws when I was 25 or so, about 6 years ago. I am not sure what I paid for them but they have been worth every penny. Course these aren't just my hunting boots I use them anytime the snow sticks, camping during the summer, anytime I go 4 wheeling. Very nice warm comfortable boots that can be used all year if needed.
Spend the money on good boots, that way you will be comfortable & have some good boots when you need them. With my Rockies on my feet are always warm & I can wade through a stream 4 in above my ankle & not get wet. All that snow last year & I was the only one who didn't have to keep drying out his shoes during the day. Give me my boots & a gun & I can survive anything
