The bar I worked at is looking for a dark beer for the winter on tap. My first thought was Odell's Nitro Porter. What else am I missing? I don't think Dry Dock would work, although it is a great beer. And I hate Breck's Vanilla Porter. Ideas beer geeks ideas!!!!

You don't like Breck's Vanilla Porter??? Wow, I love that stuff. Anyway, as far as suggestions go, what about Bristol's Winter Warlock?

Out of Great Divide you've got Saint Bridgets and Yeti. I personally prefer the Yeti.
I know Avery has a stout as well but can't say I recall how it tasted right now.
Flying dog has recently come back on the scene for me after a long period where I didn't care much for them but their Road Dog Porter is pretty good.
And I'm with you on Breck's vanilla porter. :barf:

X3 on Winter Warlock
Odell's Porter
Tommyknocker Black Powder Stout
New Belgium 1554 (it's not a porter or a stout but still a great dark beer)

X4 on the Winter Warlock for a true stout, but New Belgium's Abby or Rouge's Dead Guy would also be good choices for cold weather beers.

I will wholeheartedly second the left hand milk stout, one of my favorite beers! The warlock is pretty good too. I'm a fan of sweet stouts though, so take my two cents worth.

Well, Flying Dog Brewery doesn't make ANY bad beers, so their porter would always be an option. I also like Breckenridge Brewery's oatmeal stout.

I know Avery has a stout as well but can't say I recall how it tasted right now.
Avery's Out of Bounds Stout has that good bold flavor, not light like most.
A lot of stouts available but only a few that have that really full flavor like Out of Bounds, Obsidian, Sampson Stout.
I like Winter Warlock, but I think it's a bit on the light side.
