I remember when I proposed this group, there was some derision from people thinking that:

a) this subject has no place on a 4x4 board
b) there wouldn't be enough people interested in the subject

I am impressed by the general quality of posts in this thread, and also the civility that we see. CO4x4 is know for that anyone, in comparison to other boards, but it seems especially so in this specialty subgroup.

I am also impressed that based on this group, a few people have either changed professions or have started moonlighting, with the possibility of a full time switch.

I am just an amateur at this, and likely always will be. But I am learning a lot from all of you and the discussions that take place.

Once in a while I snap a photo that I feel is somewhat comparable in quality to the ones I regularly see here, and I am quite pleased about it. I know that I could take such pics more regularly if I took a few classes, possibly spent some more $$ on better equipment, etc., but I honestly don't care enough about it at this point to do so. I enjoy it, but don't have the same passion for it that so many of you do (at least not right now).

Really I just wanted to say thanks to all of you for your contributions, and that I am proud of how this group has grown in such short order.

Oh, and my birthday is Sunday, so if you all want to chip in and get me a Canon S5, that'd be sweet. ;)

DRINK BLEA>........ oh wait a minute. sorry pirate flash back. Your welcome Chester and Happy Birthday.

Yeah you guys got me now convinced to buy a $700 camera now plus probably 100's of dollars in other equipment just to take a picture. lol. But your right, get good at it and you can moonlight and make some money on the side.

And thanks to you and the others that pushed for a Shutterbug forum! Seeing everyone else's work has motivated me to get out there and shoot more often.

And from the Coloradoan gone Texan, I've enjoyed being able to participate a little on the board again. . . lurking all the time felt a little dirty.

I'm very pleased with how everything is progressing as well and I'm proud to be a Shutterbug! It is great to be included with and learn from some very talented photographers.

Oh yeah, happy day of aging Chester.....

That isn't the lurking, it's the living in Texas that is making you feel dirty. :flipoff2:

OK, you're right, it just hurts to say it out loud. Trust me, it doesn't wash off and no amount of antibiotics makes it go away. :P

If it helps, I married a Texan. Being a Colorado native, that's equal to the sin of moving there... :(
