Over exposed or...?

It WAS a beautiful shot, but it didn't turn out! I hate it when that happens!

Yes, it is overexposed a bit...but its easily fixable in photoshop. Your standard black border isnt helping your cause any either.

I'm no expert, but it looks like to me you were in a beautiful place at the wrong time of day.

Yeah that is an easy fix in PS or Lightroom.

And again...that heavy black border is ruining most of your pics...I can't see anything but that...really takes away from the pictures.

It looked bad even w/o the border. I tried messing around with it in PS using levels and the dodge and burn, but I couldn't figure it out. Plus it did look good when I took the pic, wasn't hazy, perfectly clear bright (obviously) sunny day. I'll try to get myself away from the borders...I'll try.

If you have to have a border, just make it a smaller lined border.

I agree that it is distracting because I find my eye being drawn to your watermark as well as your border before I concentrate on the image itself.

As a photographer (or as a print journalist as well in my case) we've got to work hard to capture the viewer's attention the way we want to capture it and hold them there for as long as possible. :)

Then work on the PS skills a bit. Not being an ass here. I am fortunate that I had more PS skills to start with than photo taking skills.

Even with that, I will be taking a PS class soon that focuses on photo editing.

If you sent one of us your original I am pretty sure we could work it in to the photo you think you took.

Practice on all skills...

That took all of 5 seconds to fix in light room. Notice how your sky is a little more blue, the clouds arent as blown out(they still are a little but photoshop only fixes so much!) and all the colors are a little more vivid and sharp. The rest of the differences are subtle, but they are definetly there. With some selective tweaking, you could also fix the landscape itself but i didnt want to get too in depth. Also notice how your eyes are drawn to the picture...and not the border. Do something with that watermark and you got somethin good there.

I personally like the boarder as it brings my eye to the picture, though that could just be the co4x4 colors causing it to wash out. Only thing I noticed was the sky and low contrast in the clouds. Otherwise I like it, and the boarder. Maybe a slimmer boarder next time.
