Check this deal on EBay out, do you think all the extras are worth it for the overall price? $1238.00

If the lenses are true Canon lenses then that right there is about $600 (from retail store prices). The XTi body is about $450 retail. The rest of the stuff I would imagine to be pure second to third grade junk.

I just looked at the low grade Canon 70-300 and it was $200, 18-55 is the "kit lens" valued at about $135 and the 28-105 is right about $250 I think.

I'm bored today, Looked up the prices of the camera, all the lenses and filters on newegg.com and it came to $1253.
Thats not including the flash memory cars, flash, case, tri-pod, card readers and whatever else but I would bet that would add another $600 to the bill.
Cheapest flash I found on newegg.com was $114

The seller has over 32,000 feedbacks 98.6% positive so I am really thinking of buying this package. Free shipping too. Hmmmm.

I would go for it if you need everything it includes. I would definitely ask the seller if the lenses are true Canons or if they are a secondary brand.

I had to keep looking and I found a 40D on Ebay Brand new with 3 Canon Lenses, for under $1600.00. I am just waiting to make sure some money I am owed comes through this week. The 40D sounds pretty good. 6.5 fps, full frame sensor, yadayada:thumbsup:

DAMN! So you have me and my co-worker scratching our heads. If that relist then you better jump on it. I would check reseller ratings since they are a brick and mortar shop and make sure they are legit, but damn damn damn!!!!

True dat Jeff, the body and lenses area about $1000 for the XTi combo.

Just a thought...if this is your first DSLR, a 40D may be a lot more camera than you will ever need. You can get the XTi with kit lens at Costco for right about $700. Do you need all the other crap that comes with the combos packages? Probably not.

Hard to say...I would love to have a 40D to grow into, but damn sure don't need one.

Picking a camera is hard!!!!

This would be my first Digital SLR. I have my old Minolta X700 35mm SLR with 4 lenses which I never use anymore so I have waited a long time to upgrade. The kicker is I really want a digital Camcorder too. Target up here in Silverthorne has the XTi 10 mpixel w/18 to 55 lens for 599.00 and the 75 to 300 canon lens for 199.00 also. Decisions, decisions.

Since its your first DSLR, id start with that 599 XTi kit and decide where you want to go from there....you can pick up lenses as you get more experience or feel that your outgrowing the kit lens...which wont take long.

As for a camcorder, you can pick up a really nice miniDV cam at just about anywhere for under 300 bucks. I have a Canon Elura 100 and it works great for just about anything id ever need it for.

I just remembered that my wife gets 10% off coupons for Target because of her Target card. Hope she has a current one.

Well there you go Tom. The XTi will last you a long while and will help you get your feet wet with the DSLR.

I have been getting lenses off eBay for pennies on the dollar, just have to be patient.

Update, I havent bought one yet, because of course I had to start thinking I want a 28-135mm IS lens. 400d XTis with that range IS lens are just over a grand on ebay. I still havent got the check I am waiting on too. Maybe this week.

Make sure (when buying online) that it isn't a gray market model. More often than not, any deal that makes you say "Crap, that's cheap!" is a gray market camera.

I know this because I nearly ended up with one a couple of years ago (via bestpricecameras.com). It took a lot to get out of that deal, but I was able to get a true North American 20D in the end.

Oh, and "USA Warranty" does not mean it isn't gray market. It usually just means it has an aftermarket warranty from a USA based warranty company, not the manufacturer.

Best of luck!

They list it as a Canon Warranty, and the seller has an excellent feedback rating but I will ask them more questions before I buy also. Thanks for the tip.
