Do you guys keep old magazines?

Is there any compelling reason to hold on to back issues of American Rifleman or Macworld?

I know SI sometimes have value, after a long time, but I just can't think there would be a good reason for others.

I have a rediculous stack of petersons, guns and ammo and maxim that pretty much just sit in my closet taking up space and collecting dust. Not sure why i keep them exactly??

Peterson's and American Rifleman are 2 examples of ones I do keep, because they both have instructional stuff in them that you can use later. I will almost certainly have a project at some point that I can look back and find a tech article or reader's tip to help me with. If a particular issue doesn't have anything I didn't already know, or anything I would ever consider doing, it goes in the trash. I learned years ago, though, that if I hadn't thought of it myself before I read it, I won't remember it when I need it.

There are some organizations that are collecting magazines to ship over to the troops.

We are collecting them at our next club meeting and one guy is going to deliver them to the location for shipping.

Most mags are available online now anyways.

Keep old mags only as bug-killing devices.

Oh and be sure to thank your Brewers for me, Josh.

I keep Petersens, Four Wheeler, and JP as reference guides. Have 4 years worth all organized and soon to be catagorized. Yeah, kinda anal, but when you're starting a business in this industry, it helps to have reference material.

My dad and all his buddies get different magazines, and when they get together for thier "Car Club" meeting (translated to a bunch of guys meeting in a shop somewhere to tell lies and occasionally work on something. They pass them around. Since they are all car guys, I pass them my 4 wheel magazines, and the hunting stuff I get. Seems like a good way to read lots of mags and not have to pay for the subscriptions on all of them.
