OK, so played with a 30D today...in love!!! Its a bit bigger than the XT so fits my large hands so much better. Everything about it seems so much better fit for me than the smaller XT.
Yeah, more camera than I need right now (but the 5fps will make the baseball gods a bit happier), but I can get a great deal on the body right now and the lenses I have will work just fine with it.
Its a case of I have the money and the deal is there right now...do I leap on it or not?
Damn...should have never walked in the doors of Wolf today...

Did you ever try the battery grip on the xt?
If you can afford it, go for it...although, your really not gaining all that much performance wise other than a little faster continuous drive.

Or look in WYO's craigslist...theres a D200 setup on there that if its legit, is a freakin smoking deal!!!

I played around with a 5D a little while when i was at bestbuy today...what a totally disappointing experience. The grip on the camera was very bulky and squared off making it hard to hold on too, the menu's were very confusing and hard to navigate(took me almost 5 mins just to figure out how to put it into continuous drive shutter) and only 3FPS?? Id expect a little more than that from a 3000+ dollar camera!!
The more i use my Nikon, the more i tell myself ill never buy another Canon.

Havent played with a 5D, but have been told by quite a few that the 40D is actually much better than the 5D.
I did fall in love with that 30D...but much like the damn MacBook I just am having that hard time pulling the trigger on it. I can get the body for around $700...I am just not sure it's worth the upgrade right now.
I want to buy a 24-80 (think thats it), but just found out its discontinued so have to find it to buy it. Got the 75-300 Sigma lens, just won that on eBay like an hour ago. My buddy at work is a wedding and fashion photog when he isn't doing IT Coordinator stuff at work...he uses an XT. Maybe I will step up to a 20D or XTi ($350-$500 for body)...just to get the little bump in fps for those sports moments, but the 30D may have to wait.

In that case, id probably go with the 20D over the XTi. The XTi is really nothing other than a repackaged XT with a little bigger LCD and 2 more MP's. Still shoots at the same 3FPS where as the 20D shoots at 5.

Really, I thought the XTi had better fps...makes that decision very easy.
I can get low actuation 20Ds for $400-$500 all day long...If I am patient maybe even in the mid $300s.
Think you just made that decision really easy for me :D

The part that makes the 5D stand out for me is the full frame (35mm) sensor. Is that worth it? Yes and no. I'm really liking the new 40D though. And I like the wheel setup versus the 4 buttons on the XTi.

Can you post some example pics from your 40D?

Well, with the 20D your really not gaining anything other than a slightly faster shooting speed 5FPS vs 3 with your XT, a little bigger camera and other than a few other really small things, not much else. So for nearly 600 bucks, your not really getting anything thats going to make your pictures all that much better. Id take that money and put it into lenses or accessories.

Yeah, well the seller wants to haggle and piss over $30...so screw it. He wants $580, I told him $550...since its a want and not a need I can walk away over $30...funny, he has been trying to sell this particular body for over a month and now wants to piss over $30.
