We were the tail end of the big group that left about 10:30AM.
Our sub-group was myself in the sammi, Greg and family in the super clean red K5, Brutus (sorry forgot your name) in the big Jeep J10 truck, and my brother in his toy mini. We had some overheating and fan relay issues after the first obstacle that kept us running late, but we had a fantastic day on the trail!
The weather was great and we had the nicest group of folks to wheel with that you could hope for. Thanks again to Greg's family for grilling burgers and brats at the lunch break! Brutus was lots of fun to watch with his full throttle style that sent us running for cover.:D
I did notice how much the rock garden had changed from earlier in the season. It is really dug out, and the bypass (is it even supposed to be there?) is getting much worse. A few trees next to the trail on both the main lines and the bypass look pretty bad with major scars. I can't help wonder how long before the FS closes it off.
