well BalloonKnot and i took off this morning for Wheeler lake. on the way up my jeep decided to overheat. Never done it before so i just think its a jeep thing. :D I let it cool off and bubbled the radiator for a minute or so and somehow it was fine. well the way up, other than being slicker than sh*!, was fairly easy for our rigs. It was also a very nice trail this time of the year with the views. Then i decided to play around on the second obsticale on the way down. Well apparently i chose the wrong line because i ended up sideways and upside down in the V-notch. i have no clue how it happened but im pretty sure it was the first rollover there. lol im gonna go ahead and blame it on the wet. Trevor aka BalloonKnot and i both got a good laugh out of it. For being my first actuall rollover it wasnt too bad. i have a feeling that wheeler lake would no longer be classified as a 6. at least i hope not. somebody please tell me someone else has flipped there.... i will have pics up tomorrow i hope keep the rubber on the rocks :D

When I went through there on Sat, a Defender 90 got all sideways in the notch and left some paint behind. I do have to wonder how you were able to get turned over though. Did you try and go on the high side? I went up the left side and came down just past the notch on the steep incline with no problems. I'm not quite ready to scratch and roll my JK just yet.....

I've seen a few people get close on the climb by the V. One was a Pinz with about 4' of air. Yes they have NO articulation. The other was a Defender trying to go up the hill by the V with just a little too much gusto. I Got kind of on my side in the V, but was luckily just on my slider, so no damage.

Here is a link to all the pics. Got to give Josh props, :hail: 10 mins after flopping on the large V, he tries the same thing going down the last one. Greatest part of his flop was that there was little to no damage. It was a fun trip.

Sorry about that last URL, not sure what I pasted but hopefully this one should work better. Page 4 shows the roll.

that is a flop not a rollover. definetly the wrong line, too much to the driver side. 1BADCJ8 almost did the same thing last time we went there on the same spot but he gassed it just in time to drive out of it

I'll be :crybaby: You notice I was on the "safe" (insert your choice word here) side of the V. We didn't get pictures of it but when I came up that I somehow got turned sideways with my hitch burried into one side of the V with my open front diff on the other top side. Video would have been better since it looked more like a drag strip with me trying to get up rather than crawling. I know this trail always seems to be wet but I couldn't keep any lines I attempted without sliding off them.

how was 'bowling ball hill' with it being that wet?

I did alot of spinning in there as well. I was moving through it nice and slow basically at idle but each rock it got on it slipped off and so on and so on. It was like my jeep was drunk and trying to walk a straigh line. For another strange reason I only aired down to 20lbs. It wasn't until we decided to come down that I aired down to 12 or so to soften my ride.

100% agree. Last couple trails I've been lazy about the air up part so I only go down to 20. Still makes the run but tired of the spinning and the a$$ kick I get.

we did it last weekend in the rain my runner walked up it and over anything i pointed it at, my buddys xj had a pretty hard time on 31s and being open but he made it until right after the waterfall and he punched a hole in his rad.

The mine is at the lake. We turned around and started heading back down and you can immediately see it up to your right. Seems to go back a ways into the mtn but we didn't try it out. Anybody know how far it goes?

theres a couple of them if you hike around the lake to the opposite side... follow the cables up the face towards the summit.

Goes back about 150 ft and dead ends at a short adit. Pretty cool with the tracks for the mine cart still there. Solid rock with no timbers so should be relatively safe.

<<<<<<<< Look to the avatar. That was my first trip up Wheeler. I laid it over again going up the other side of this obsticle the second trip. Two flopps in my jeep within 50 feet of each other.
