That Suzuki has been on the fron page for quite awhile now . . . not that it's not a sweet rig.

I gotta agree here. Steve's zuk is cool but it is starting to look like background. How about just cycling through the readers rigs so there is a different one weekly.

I do agree it would be nice to see different rigs in the Reader's Rig section. I also remember this topic coming up a few months ago, and the reason it doesn't get changed often is because of the work involved in doing a write-up on each rig. I'm sure Eric, Rif, and/or Bob would be open to having someone "adopt" this section of the board and be responsible for the legwork involved... ;)
I would volunteer, but I simply don't have the time or the know how to take on this project. If you are interested, I would PM one of the moderators and let them know! :D

Hey Guys...
Yeah, I've been a little behind on the Reader's Rigs. Heck, I've been way behind on this board, don't have nearly the time to check it as often as I'd like. And my jeep, it's still dealing with neglect from my Montrose trip a month ago...
Bottom line is that YES, it does take a little time. Not so much to actually write up, but to go through the rigs and pick one. The past rigs have been people that I've been on the trail with and have been impressed with their vehicles. Now that the board has grown, this is neither possible or fair. What I would prefer is to get suggestions on who YOU think should be the featured rig. This isn't just how the rig looks or what all is bolted on, but how the rig has performed on the trail. I rather feature a rig that was both well crafted and is shocking good on the rocks, compared to huge thing that walks over anything simply due to the $$$$ put into it. Innovation and Inginuity.
SO. Here's the deal I make to all of you: help me help you! We're a great communutity and if you've been out on the trail lately and thought, "Wow, what a great rig", or "Wow, I can't beleive that heep can do that!", or "Wow, what an amazing idea". Then let me know!!! As always, the rules for the featured rig state that the rig must be registered in the "Reader's Rigs" section of this baord. When someone is selected, then I ask for 6-7 photos, a mod list and the story behind the rig's creation and current use.
You can email me suggestions at: rifraf@mac.com. If you are HTML savvy and would like to help build featured rigs pages, then let me know and we'll talk!!!

My vote is for black-diamond. I've never seen a jeep float over obstacles with such finess and articulation as his.

Oh, stop it! redface.gif
All I need to do is learn how to drive the darn thing! My handiest part of the whole rig is the winch! graemlins/idea.gif

Wow Dave, with an endorsement like that, the pressure is really on you now for the Moab trip in a week. I can't wait to see you "float" over everything!!! graemlins/bounce.gif I gotta bring the digital camera to get photos of this. :D

Nice to see you on here again Rif graemlins/thefinger.gif Reader's Rigs has been Rif's domain from pretty much day one and I really appreciate his help in maintaining that. I can't push him too hard because I'm way behind on the lengthy list of things I need/want to do around here, so I rely on the rest of you to give him a nudge now and then :D
Now that we know how to help Rif with the spotlight (by nominating rigs you're personally impressed with) I'd like to nominate Dave Meisner's CJ:

I've watched it work VERY well on the trail (how about Patriot totally unaided and coming away with only a small scratch on the hood!) and I've watched him put a LOT of time and effort into not just building it, but building it CLEAN. It's a show-n-shine that actually sees serious trail use and does it well :D As a bonus, by the length of his Reader's Rigs profile he's pretty much done the writeup already graemlins/thefinger.gif
