I've got an archaic version of Photoshop that can still do waaaay more than I'd ever want, but it just doesn't seem to me like it's suited well to what I'm doing.

I'm doing some basic marketing and POP type materials and while I know that Photoshop can do them, I would think there's probably something out there that's better suited for that kind of stuff than Photoshop.

What's everyone using?

Looks like we've got MS Publisher here too, that might work a little better than Photoshop.

Illustrator if you're doing layouts for POP signage, InDesign for multiple page documents (like a brochure).

Photoshop is a different beast, and will really bog down if you're doing big files like banners and pop-up signs.

Are these materials being printed in house (like on your color printer), or sent to an actual print shop? Most print shops will laugh you out the door if you brought something in from MS Publisher. Either that, or they'll bend you over on the price to get that stuff sent through their RIP.

Gonna do all the printing in house, we've got some color laser printers here that do a pretty decent job.

I don't think I could get the boss to spring the $600 needed for Illustrator either!

:D

I'm just telling it like it is! If it prints fine in-house, might as well use what you have.
