It's been at or slightly above this rate back in July. Since the company I work for is traded on a Canadian exchange, I get to watch this rate daily...

If the boss would have kept the $90million proceeds from our last deal in CAD$, we would have made an extra $5million on the exchange rate gain over the last 4 months

I know, it sucks... Watching a blue jays game from the hard rock in the stadium tonight was cool though.

Hey Chester - what are the fuel prices like up there?

I'm driving back for Christmas, and I'm not looking forward to the fuel bill.

I'll let you know when I get back. Been staying downtown, and walking to everything. The car is in the garage at $30CD per day, thank god it is on the company. It's awesome how close everything is to the hotel.

Going for a drive tomorrow afternoon (down to Niagara), I'll report fuel prices then.

I guess I have to stop calling them Junior Dollars now. :(

Well, they're equal. I'm betting by tomorrow or the weekend sometime that our dollar will be worth less than the CAD. Today marks the first time since 1976 that the US dollar was at parity with the CAD.

This makes me wonder when credit card companies determine the exchange rate for charges. Hopefully it is "day of". If so, I stand to make about $100 just off the exchange rate for the expenses I submitted on my trip.

Does this mean Canadian quarters will start working in vending machines?

Good thing e-bragging about traveling pays off!

It's day-of transaction going through. So, if they delay it a day, it'll go through the day it's processed. Don't get too gloaty about your exchange rate- most CC's will sack you with a 2% foreign exchange surcharge per transaction, or a flat transaction fee. It'll add up.

Anyone ever go to a Canadian topless (bottomless? ) club with a sackfull of loonies? :D

That is a first class trip. Let's just say you can't slip coins under the G-string. :lmao:

Some friends in Calgary got me drunk and they decided to haul me to the French Maid. That was just damn funny tossing coins at naked chicks. So utterly unsexy (not that I find stuffing US bills in G-strings particularly hot).

Friggin' Canadians and their silly loonies. :D

At least when I was there tossing a loonie was like tossing a fitty-cent piece (not really it was like 0.79 USD then).

Am I the only one that sees the value of our dollar dropping as a very bad thing.

Every cloud has a silver lining: this helps our exports.

I know I know we've been busy over the last 30 years shoving all our manufacturing off on other countries. But we still export a few things.

Of course this doesn't help anyone who I dunno, say - and I'm just spitballing here - has a business importing fine French wine.

Bummer for that, man. Maybe your man Stefan can reverse the business and you can export some lesser-known US wines to Europe. Nahh they're too snobby - but maybe not in a place like Poland?! :D

I do too. Can't imagine how bad a recession would be. BTW, exchange today is just a bit lower than yesterday. 1.00 USD = 1.00120 CAD
