How late do you think it will be open?

Thinking of a trip to Lake City then taking engineer into ouray, taking black bear into telluride...then going to moab from there. Black Bear will be the highlight so I'm wanting to make sure I schedule accordingly.

Side note here: Would it be too cold to camp in Lake City/Ouray/Telluride in October? I'm not a wimp, but the guys who'd come with me HATE the cold.

TIA

Were heading to Lake City this Thursday. We are staying in a RV campground and they close down at the end of Sept. I will let you know what the weather is like.

Well my grandparents have a place in Lake City, so maybe I could stay there, then hotel in Ouray or telluride then camp in Moab. I think that'd prolly be wiser. But still lemme know how the weather is in good ole lake city.

No idea how much longer it will be open, but I just did it this last Sunday. Blackbear was pretty freaking sketchy for me in my stock 03 Grand Cherokee Overland, but well worth the scares. We camped in the lower foresty part of Imogene Pass which is in the same area. Night temps were pretty low. Not sure of exact temperature (Maybe 30s?), but I was fine with good long john bottoms and top, jeans, sweater, and beanie. A campfire and bottle of JD helped too. :)

Yeah I don't think I'd wanna camp 'round there until next summer. I'm really hoping it'll stay open a little longer.
