Correct. How quickly we forget who it was that signed NAFTA after he PROMISED he wouldn't during his campaign speeches to the unions.
I was working IBEW in Spokane WA the day that NAFTA went into effect. That very same day, HP closed their plant in Moses Lake WA and headed to Mexico. 6 Months later I was permanently laid off. Since then many many other Manufacturing companies have done the same.
Then the Canadian Sawmills did thier Japanese style market takeover tactics about two years after NAFTA was in effect. By the time that was stopped, I was laid off again.
This crap was initiated years ago before this administration and it is still being carried out. If many of you haven't noticed, this country is turning into a service instead of a manufacturing Country. Most service jobs do not pay like manufacturing.

It's sort of ironic that the truckers have been doing really well for the past decade or so hauling Chinese goods all over the country. Now, it looks like the good times might be over for them too. When my old job went to China I was told that it was a good thing for America. Cheaper stuff at Wal Mart would help everybody. Now it's the truckers turn in the barrel.
The funny thing is that there are still people out there that think that they won't be affected by this globalization movement.

Ab-so-friggen-lutely. We sell commercial steel, so the companies we sell to may have Pedro and his boys working for them.
I ship a lot of steel via flatbed trucks, as well.

I'm saying that as Pedro and Wun-Hung-Lo do the formerly well paying jobs for lots less than Joe then Joe can't afford things like medical care, dining out, buying insurance, etc. and chances are that he's paying less taxes that support things like school teahers, police, public works employees, and maintaining the infrastructure of the country.
Even if you have a job that is "safe" chances are that you will be affected by Joe being replaced. Consider this, over three million Joes have lost their manufacturing jobs in the last six years.

The rest of the world is catching us and in many ways surpasing us. Some third world countries arn't too third world anymore. Maybe that's a good thing. But America keeps on whoring herself out for the almighty dollar. The Statue of Liberty might as well be working at the Nevada bunny ranch dressed in a mini skirt and high heals. The only question is-do we continue going down this road without a fight or do we just continue in our owns lives doing the best we can while politicians (on both sides) continue to flush our lifestyle away to line their own pockets.

Ok, get this - there will be SERIOUS trucker fights on this. Some truckers are outright vicious.
I would say, honestly, that there is business potential in having a seperate truckstop for Mexican truckers along highly traffic'ed corridors.
True story - I'm in the back of this gypsy cab in vegas, on a long roadtrip, all blown out while me and some mates were on a combination climbing/lose your mind roadrtip. We're all talking, getting chatty with the lady cab driver, and we're asking about the price of medallions to legally cab in LV, and we get on the subject of what happens to gypsy cabs. She told us a story of a cabbie from LA who came out, had a weekend, and who was running fares to make enough scratch to get home. His car was found burned in the desert, and he, dead beside it.
Just saying. This has alot of propensity to cause cultural strife betwen Am and Mex truckers... just my brainstorm here.

i think you're right . i saw some crazy stuff happen when i was on the road.
i don't see drivers taking this lying down. if they make it so unprofitable for mexicans to drive here they won't come anymore it could work. there's lots
of ways to screw up a truck and not endanger any body's safety.
it's sad but i think we citizens have to start taking matters into our own hands since it's obvious the government is only going to sell us down the road.

Seriously, what would it take for one of you to bear arms in revolt against this nations government? What would be the straw that broke your back?
Going to war with the truckers that have been legally allowed to come here for commerce is not the right way to do it. I know it will happen and it is not going to be pretty.
The North American Union is going to happen one day and the US will hurt from it just like the Germans did with the EU. Will that be your breaking point?
When I was in Germany I ran a small production company as a side job. Because I was not a national or citizen I had to pay some crazy taxes, taxes that the citizens didn't have to pay to do the same work. It forced me to charge more to do shows. I was lucky to get work doing it and had a lot of fun but there is no way I could have made a living doing it.
This is the approach that I believe our government should take. Allow them to do business here but make them pay to do so. Provide incentives for merchants or shipping companies that are from this country.
Just my random thoughts on it. I am concerned that revolution is not far away and that scares the crap out of me. Because when that day comes the revolutionaries will be in for the fight of their lives. I would not want to face the US military in combat and that is what it will be.

I was in the military in the early 90's. I couldn't name one person that I was in with that would fire on someone from their own country. There is no way to know for sure but I have a feeling that many in the military would turn against their political leaders.
The thing that would worry me is if we did overthrow the government we would be succeptable for invasion in the time shortly after. Possible from something as benign as Mexico. I think that the hispanics that are here illegally would wage war of their own making it a three way conflict.

Excellent. The concept of making people who are not a legal part of this country pay an additional tax for the privilege of coming here to make a profit, rather than just showing up and sucking off our economy is a good one.

This country is a LONNNNNG way from revolution. everyone is way to comfortable to fight. Revolutions only happen when it's more painful to do nothing than to fight.
Everyone will be kept in line the original way: Bread and Circuses.

The only revolution possible in this country, besides some little skirmish with local police and the feds is one that will come from within the system. It's not gonna take firearms. All it's gonna take is for one high profile politician to get a clue. The subsequent shift in support will register on the nations seismographs. The other politicians, mindfull of their upcoming elections, will realize that there's change in the wind. The ship will begin to turn, and perhaps stupiditiy will cease to reign in both major parties.
Be carefull who you vote for - you're electing the soldiers of the next american revolution.

Uh, watching so many people blindly supporting corrupt idiots in office, I'm convinced that there isn't going to be any "revolution" any time soon.
Change in this country, on that level, will happen when the house of cards falls. Nothing spectacular, nothing sudden, just a long deterioration into joblessness, poverty, and anger for more and more people in the long run. Crushing national and personal debt is more of a threat to us than Mexico.
Well, and zombies. :D

BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA :lmao:
That's one of the funniest things I've read here in a long time. Most people in this country are far too comfy to consider an armed revolution which would pretty much destroy our current standard of living for some time.

Are you kidding me? The only way to effectively stop a zombie from attacking is by obliterating the infected brain. Sure, this can be done by bludgeoning in close-quarters attack. However, a well-aimed single shot to the head, or a somewhat-well-aimed-shot to the head using a shotgun, is definitely effective. Far from "worthless" if you ask me.
Now, there's the issue of drawing more zombies to you from the sound of the gun shot. That's why you use silenced weapons.

Get real... I'll go along with the shotgun being able to obliterate the brain, but a rifle shot? That'd leave too much grey matter in place - and would just piss off the zombie. Since they move slow, gimme a nice 20lb sledge and a double bladed axe. No ammo supply needed.

Ah, and now I'll harken back to my days as an EMT in NYC. I've got some juicy photos for you of what a 30/30 does to an enclosed space with soft tissue in it. It's just simply amazing that you can coat every interior surface of a car with gore using one shot.
Upon entry, the bullet's got assloads (technical term) of energy concentrated on the leading edge of the projectile (yes, I'm simplifying here). It breaks the bone and moves into the cranium, where a bunch of tissue tries to get out of it's way really really fast. Since it can't move that quickly, the skull essentially overpressures - resulting in explosive decompression once the structural limits of the bone is reached. The end result? There's s**t flying everywhere. Much more so than bludgeoning or cutting.
It's basic: arm yourself, move to the upper floors, break down the stairs (since we all know zombies can't climb ladders). jtw2 knows where it's at.
