I asked Julie about any upcoming work on the trails, and here is my reply. So basically anyone with nothing to do, keep any idiots in check this weekend.

Jerry has done some tractor work on Longwater. Jerry and I, Curt Logsden,
and Teller County met with the Park County Commissioners and informally
presented the easement processes and procedures that Park County has to go
through to get the trail to the river open. The upper portion, the portion
that Jerry worked on, is in Teller County. The lower portion of Longwater
and Corral Creek are in Park County. The Forest Service didn't want Corral
Creek open, but Park was adamant about opening that. The basic agreement
within Park County was that Wildcat canyon is a precious resource to be used
by the public and as long as it doesn't impact their budget, they are moving
forward in the process to obtain the easements from the Forest Service. The
Park County officials were interested in the tourism, which is their number
one revenue stream. (All these years, I though it was the speeding tickets
in Fairplay!)

If you're bored over this upcoming Labor Day Weekend, it wouldn't hurt to go
down Metberry and keep an eye on the uneducated (idiots and *&%holes) who
might want to drive around/through/over our work. There might be a lot of
alcohol involved, so first priority is staying safe.

Have a great holiday weekend. We're heading out of town to do some
wheeling. Julie
