I don't know all of the trails, but depending on what you have for a wheeler, look at Slaughterhouse, Red Cone, Webster pass. They are about 30-60 minutes from town. I ran all of those trails with my 89 4Runner, fully stock, with no issues, and some great views. I always suggest going on the trail with someone else though, just in case  .
There is also a place called C.O.R.E. out in arapahoe county, and traildamage rates it as a 1 on the low end, and a 9 on the high end. To me it looks like a man made wheeling ground, and offers an aray of thing to play on :D . I would look into it further before driving out there, to be sure that its set up the way I think it is.

I don't know if I would call those trails "beginers", but like I said, I haven't hit too many trails, since I just started getting into the 4x4 scene again last year. What are you driving? Hows your skill lever?
Spring creek is a badass trail, we jsut ran it on Sunday. It requires good skill, adequate ground clearance. I'm open fr and rr with a SAS 4" lift, and I made it through all of the obstacles, except the rock garden (engine, and clutch problems).

driving skills...ummm, well i have a stock international scout and have taken it everywhere we could go without the ground clearence, but i'm getting my scout lifted and am putting 35's on it so i'm looking for a trail to get used to the height and the whole new susp....if you go to dandcextreme.com and look at ole'blue in the gallery thats what my scout is getting done, same tire size and everything....

I still think that Slaughterhouse is a good trail to get use to your lift and tires. It offers a good amount of things to do and there are some bypasses around, what they consider hard parts. I just thought of another place, Lefthand canyon http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=6. If that doesn't suit your fancy, then try carnage canyon (they are connected in way), but if you do, don't hope to get out without some body damage.

I second that! Was my first trail...good times!! Plus there is a camp ground right at the base of the trail...and not the kind of camp ground where everyone and their brother is going to be.

They are both fun trails IMO. Have fun, and keep it on the trail :flipoff2:

cwkelle-
For what you're building (and I'm sure someone will call my crazy), I'd recommend Left Hand Canyon, Carnage.
The easiest lines up LHC Carnage can be managed by a rig with 32's and a rear locker (my buddy does it all the time in his trooper).
If you want more of a challenge, pick a line up something a bit more difficult. Since the trail is in a creekbed, if you do completely fawk up and flop it, you ain't gonna roll down the mountainside or anything. There are plenty of winch points if you need it as well.
And if it breaks, someone will be around to help you out.
I'm not far from there, so PM when you're ready to go, and I'll run it with ya!

To tell you the truth, I never saw any people camping up there, but I've only been once. I forgot you were looking for that in a trail as well

It ain't that bad- the photos you see are generally of the more "exciting" lines. Like I said, my bud takes his trooper thru there no problem on 32's with a welded diff.

can you camp along carnage?

You wouldn't want to camp in there IMHO...drive up the rest of LHC and there are some nice camping spots that overlook the city.
