It would be pretty super to have one in my driveway, so yes!

I don't think that to qualify as a supercar, it has to be uncomfortable and unforgiving. And I also agree with the author, in that any car like this should be driven. Kind of like having decorative candles and not burning them - WTF?

I dunno, I just wish someone would build a mid/rear engine car that a normal human could afford. The Lotus Exige is the closest thing out there and it's still 60K+ if you can find one. There is nothing in a Lotus that you wouldn't find on a Corolla for 1/4 the cost, dammit! :D

These cars will never get driven as they should... at one of my track sessions last year, I was lapping a Ferrari F430 in my 350Z cause the guy was just too chicken to drive it! Sad, sad world.

Someone needs to take the drivetrain of a WRX STI, spin it 180 degrees, drop it to the ground, and slap a low-slung body on it. Make a bunch of them, sell them to sport compact enthusiasts, and get the price down in the 30k-40k range!

I'm not in favor of giving the R8 supercar status. It's definitely bad-ass, but sub 500HP, sub 200MPH, and not having 4.0 flat 0-60 capability are strikes one, two, and three against supercar status.

Any respectable supercar goes 3-3 in those criteria, in my book.

Very bitchin' tho- don't get me wrong.

Edit- after some reflection, I must correct the 4.0 flat and revise to include an extra half-second. 4.5 is now my corrected standard for supercar status in the 0-60 category. My apologies. So the R8 is one for three, which would reflect more accurately my feeling of "close, but not quite there".
