Hmm, didn't even know this forum was over here! I don't know who else here is into drag racing, I've been working on a go-fast Jeep lately. Crossing fingers that I can pick up everything from the machine shop tomorrow and maybe fire it on Saturday.

Specs: 1990 Jeep Comanche (Eliminator according to the DMV :) )
engine: AMC 401, .040 over, iron heads p/p, bigger valves, 12.6:1 Arias pistons, stock forged rods polished and shotpeened, floating pins. Stock forged crank, 2 bolt main w/ studs, oil mods. 255/260 @ .050", .600" lift solid cam, Torker single plane intake.

fuel system: Stock tank with stock baffled tray, pickup modified w/ bulkhead fittings, 5/8 supply, 1/2 return line. Aeromotive A1000 pump, filters, regulator. Holley Commander 950 900 cfm throttle body, fully mappable EFI on E85, Prologger wideband/ nitrous controller/ gizmo. If I run out of injector another nitrous plate will be used for fuel only, PWM controlled to correct air/fuel ratio by Prologger.

exhaust: 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 stepped headers, far from equal length but full length (mid-trans dump) dual 2.5 through Magnaflows.

just in case: NX Hitman 100-200 Hp system.

Trans: TH400, HD sprag, TCI race kit, 3600 stall M and M converter, billet front, forged anti-balloon back. Ratchet shifter.

Rear: stock D44, 3.73, Lockright  with 28" drag radials.

Soon to come: 10 point cage.

My machinist says he's built a couple 401's just like this one and they dyno 575 HP on gasoline, so I should be able to spray it into the 10's? Anybody see any parts mismatches there?

12.6:1. Daaaayum!
Well, if that rig is in the 4K lbs range (total guess), and you've got 575 + nitrous, I'd guess that 10's aren't out of the question.

That will be a hell of a 10 second ride down the strip. Very cool- make sure to post up as this puppy evolves.

You've "got it" bad. :hail: :hail: :D

11.6 @ 117. Gonna take a little tweaking to hit the 10's, but I'll get'er done. :) Re-stall to 4000 or 4200, solid cam, more rocker oughta do it. Oh, and a roll bar.

Dude so how are you running 12:1? Is it because the E85 is essentially 100oct?

Hey - how are you managing the launch (like are your 60' numbers happy?) - The squat isn't normally the "best" on those bad boys...

... maybe a little time could be had working your short game?

I'm in the crowd on this one -- TOTALLY BadA55 !

Stan, she cuts a 1.71 short time- the converter is 3600 but it still feels soft at the hit hence the impending restall. 200 shot out of the hole. 360 rwhp plus 200 flywheel shot for about 650 @ the crank. Rear suspension and drivetrain consists of the stock D44 with a Lockright, 1310 yoke w/ straps, H/D driveshaft. Stock rear springs with shorty addaleaf removed and Advance Auto 3" steel drop blocks. And it doesn't wrap at all, somehow. There is a limit chain on the left front to keep body rise from eating horsepower. I have M/T drag radials, 275/60 15 on.

Bob- E85 is supposedly 105 octane, so that's my only trick there. And it absolutely loves timing. 41 degrees total w/ the nitrous, go figure! I run 46 degrees of locked out advance when the bottle's off. It's tuned for Lambda .86 on motor and .75 on the bottle and still looking for the happiest settings.

I talked a go-fast Saab buddy into putting some E85 in the tank last night after noticing his car dumps diesel-esque black clouds and pings like a mofo. Now the detonation and smoke is completely gone even though I suspect the car has transitioned over to lean due to the higher required fuel volume. I think a quick fuel pressure bump'll fix it and let him run at least 5 more psi. E85's good stuff I tell ya!
