Fabricating fun

I thought a seal was bad in my ram assist.

I made a spanner wrench to take it apart:

The seals were fine but the shaft wasn't. I must've bumped a rock with it:

So I made a new one of those too. I was a little concerned that I didn't have enough material to polish it but it doesn't leak so I think I'm ok:

My boss is nice enough to let me use the machines at work for my own stuff. We have a 2-axis CNC mill and a CNC lathe that I used to make those.

What did you make it out of? They are usually hardened steel with a hard chrome plating. Not that other options won't work, just wondering.

Just 1018 CR, it's all I had. I figured if I bent this one then I would spend a little more on the material and heat treating next time.

I might just try not to bump rocks with it though. ;)
